Christmas As A Single Mom

Happy Holidays! I hope everyone got to enjoy their Thanksgiving and are ready for Christmas! This year will be my first Christmas as a single mom. This will also be my first Christmas since my college years with my family in Florida. That means no snow, no cold, or need for winter clothes. It also mean plenty of sunshine, family, and the opportunity to do Christmas differently this year.

Christmas as a single mom means whatever you want it to.

At this point, I am about 6 months into my single motherhood journey. I’m still healing, evolving, and learning what I want for myself as well as my daughter moving forward. There are times where I grieve. I have moments where I surprise or shock myself. Nonetheless, I do know single mother or not, I want my daughter and I to have a very merry little Christmas.

Maybe we’ll play at the beach rather than play in the snow. Perhaps we’ll have some ice cold apple cider instead of hot cocoa. There may be matching pajamas. New mommy/daughter Christmas traditions may begin. I am hopeful and looking forward to Christmas this year.

Christmas for me this year will be filled with less stress. My daughter this year is on the brink of turning two rather than only nine months old. I am not as stressed, overwhelmed, or tired as I was a year ago. I can’t wait to enjoy Christmas this year. Let the holiday cheer begin!

I hope that all of you have a very Merry Christmas. Enjoy time with those you love. Take time to care for yourself. Embrace the season of giving and good cheer. Rest, relax, and reduce your stress. I look forward to many more Christmases of joy, laughter, and happiness.

Merry Christmas!
