Diversity, representation, and inclusion are all important values I have in regards to raising my daughter. I wrote in a post awhile back that growing up finding black owned brands was a challenge. Having a daughter now, I find it’s not as challenging, but the need for my child to see herself in her toys, books, and more is still important. Below are some of my favorite black created brands for kids!
Black Created Brands For Kid
Puzzle Huddle was created in January 2018 by a couple with three children under the age of seven. Motivated by their desire to see diverse images on the puzzles their children complete they founded Puzzle Huddle! Their puzzles range from 15 to 200 piece puzzles all with images featuring African American art.

Alfreda Abena created The Rooted Baby Co. in honor of her first child Noah Kofi in spring 2018. Her brand includes swaddles, wooden toys, and even silicone bibs! Discovered Alikay Naturals while trying to find a detangler conditioner for my daughter’s hair. Not only do I love their detangler product for babies but also all of their baby products! They are my newest addition to my favorite black created brands for kids. Founder and CEO, Rochelle Alikay Graham-Campbell started this product in her kitchen while in college. Today her prodcuts can be found in retailers like Target and CVS. Despite her growth she still ensures her products have no petroleum, mineral oil, alcohol, parabens, sulfate or silicones!
