Mother’s Day is two days away!

Having a baby means obtaining lots of baby-related stuff. I did not realize the seemingly never-ending amount of products in this world geared towards babies and mommies. While there are plenty of baby products out there for dads, the amount doesn’t come close to what’s out there specifically for moms and babies.

Ten weeks into my motherhood journey has introduced me to a slew of baby and mommy products. It has also reminded me that treating myself is as important as taking care of my baby (#selfcare is the best care). With all of this in mind, here are my favorite things that have made my motherhood journey even better. Feel free to make a purchase via Amazon by clicking on the pictures!

Graco Soothe ‘n Sway Baby Swing with portable rocker, Easton

When I need to be in a different room or want a more secure hands-free option I use the swing. When she gets fussy I put her in the swing and let her be soothed by the motion with or without the vibration feature. The actual seat of the swing is removable (aka portable rocker), has multi-position recline, and can be placed in three different directions. Also, under $100. Winning.

Ergobaby Aura Baby Carrier Wrap for Newborn to Toddler (7-25 Pounds), Grey Stripes

This is one of my newborn must haves that I didn’t use often at first. I wanted it and had asked for it but I found myself in the beginning too tired to learn how to use it. HOWEVER, once I learned how to use it, I was mad that I hadn’t used it sooner. It’s a great tool to bond, soothe, and calm your baby. It also allows your baby to rest on your chest and still have your hands free. To be able to sit in front of my computer for work and type while my daughter lays on my chest is amazing. To have some me time and still have mommy/daughter time is an added bonus!

Baby Trend Lil Snooze Deluxe 2 Nursery Center, Twinkle Twinkle Moon

This makes my newborn must haves list because of its versatility. In my apartment I currently have a bassinet in my bedroom and the nursery center in my living room. I prefer to be in the same room as my daughter right now even if she’s sleeping. When I’m in the living room she’s in the nursery center’s bassinet or the canopy nap area. The nursery center easily moves around due to the wheels which means I can have her right next to me if I want.  If my daughter needs a diaper change I can place her on the included flip away changing table and grab a diaper from the hanging storage bag. When she gets old enough it can be converted to a playpen. When I travel it easily can be deconstructed and taken with me in it’s included storage bag. This nursery center’s multiple purposes and easiness makes this a daily use product.

HALO Sleepsack 3-Way Adjstable Baby Swaddle, 100% Cotton – Neutral Triangles, Newborn

I received a fleece HALO Sleepsack for my daughter while in the hospital. Her father was the one doing all the swaddling while at the hospital and for the weeks directly following our daughter’s birth. I had no clue how to swaddle. By the time I was up to try and swaddle our daughter, the fleece HALO sleepsack had been put away due to the warm weather. I tried with other non-fleece swaddles with only frustration and post-partum tears to show for my efforts. So I bought the HALO Sleepsack 3-Way Adjustable Baby Swaddle, 100% Cotton and never looked back. It is on my newborns must have list for so many reasons! I can easily swaddle my daughter with it. All I have to do is zip her up inside and then follow the instructions on the inside of the swaddle. Even when she does manage to wiggle out or I need to adjust her the Velcro makes it almost effortless. While my daughter doesn’t need the swaddle as much, it is the only swaddle I will probably ever use.

Vera Bradley Women’s Signature Cotton Ultimate Baby Diaper Bag (Bonbon Medallion)

This diaper bag is one of those items that I splurged on. I already use and love Vera Bradley’s travel bags and when it came to a diaper bag despite all my searching I kept coming back to this one. This bag makes my favorite thins list for so many reasons. It has plenty of space inside. This diaper bag comes with a ditty bag, changing pad, and stroller straps. It has insulated bottle pockets and is machine-washable. The bag also doesn’t make me feel like I’m carrying a diaper bag. Yes, it might be a diaper bag, but it’s a super cute diaper bag.

Mayo Clinic Guide to Your Baby’s First Years: 2nd Edition Revised and Updated

After having my daughter I began to research books about caring for a baby so that I could have some guidance. I checked out a lot of books from the library but this book was the only book I actually purchased after reading it.  This book makes my newborns must haves list because it didn’t overwhelm me. I can skip around and find what I’m looking for. It has so far covered most of my questions. Would recommend to any parent!
